Textile sourcing: find the right manufacturer for your collection
Are you looking for a textile manufacturer to develop a collection, produce under your own brand or compare manufacturing options? Based in Paris, I help you define your requirements, identify suitable manufacturers and compare their commercial proposals.
My experience includes COP.COPINE, TOKO’S Paris and organising production in Armenia. It brings together collection development, discussions with manufacturers and sales to professional buyers.
The choice of manufacturer depends on your product, quantities, quality requirements, budget and timetable.

The starting point is your product category, materials, finishing requirements, quantities per style and colour, target delivered price and intended dates. Existing technical packs, collection documents or product references are useful; a new sales presentation is not required.
Where these requirements are not yet clear, the first step is to define them. Sending an incomplete brief to multiple factories can produce quotations that cannot meaningfully be compared.
Compare production options, not just countries
Depending on the product and scope, research may cover Armenia, Georgia, Central Asia, the Baltic states, Türkiye or other Asian markets. Location alone does not establish suitability or competitiveness.
Assessment can cover the products actually manufactured, minimum quantities per reference, sampling, declared and verified capacity, lead times and delivered costs. Requested certificates need to apply to the relevant company, product and activity. A statement in a catalogue is not proof that a specific order meets your requirements.
Deliverables for your sourcing assignment
Depending on the agreed scope, your assignment may include:
- A sourcing brief covering products, materials, finishes, quantities and deadlines.
- A reasoned shortlist of manufacturers, with available information and points requiring further verification.
- A comparison of offers covering minimum order quantities, samples, prices, delivery terms and stated lead times.
- A summary of discussions where contacting manufacturers forms part of the assignment.
- An overview of options worth pursuing and recommended next steps.
Deliverables and timing are agreed before work begins. Testing, on-site inspections and logistics services are scoped separately when required.
Separate commercial coordination from production responsibility
An assignment may include a reasoned manufacturer shortlist, a comparison of commercial terms and coordination of discussions. Manufacturing, testing, on-site inspections and logistics are not automatically included. Their providers, responsibilities and costs must be defined separately.
I do not present this service as an owned factory or a stock-selling operation. The purpose is to assess options against your needs, not to claim production capacity has been reserved before an agreement exists.
Fees and confidential relationships
Sourcing fees are separate from the manufacturing budget. Objectives, deliverables, payment and information-sharing arrangements are agreed before detailed supplier work begins. Sensitive customer and manufacturer relationships are not distributed without an appropriate framework.
What should we prepare before starting a search?
Outline your product categories, quantities per style and colour, preferred materials, target budget and required dates. Include any existing technical packs or product references. If some details are missing, we first clarify the brief so that manufacturers’ proposals can be compared meaningfully.
Can you work with small production runs?
Feasibility depends on the product, colour breakdown and manufacturers available. There is no universal minimum quantity that can responsibly be promised in advance.
Can the products carry our own brand?
Private-label production may be included in the search. Patterns, materials, branding, packaging and documentation must be specified accordingly.
Are prices and certifications guaranteed?
Not before verification and a manufacturer’s offer. Part of the assignment is to distinguish a commercial statement from supporting evidence and a contractual commitment.
Share your textile sourcing brief
Describe your priority products, expected quantities and deadlines. Specify whether your budget is based on an ex-factory price or includes transport and other costs to your intended delivery location.
This information will help us define a practical first step and the scope of the search.
Please also include your role, relevant quantities or capacity, your timetable, existing contacts and your budget for the assignment, if already defined. This helps establish the scope of a potential paid assignment.
